Assignment #8 - Persecution

You have all been working diligently on your novel study assignments.  All of the novels show the trials and tribulations of a character and how he/she was treated unfairly.  Now that you have a better idea of what persecution is, I would like you to write about the type of persecution that occurred in your novel.  In your paragraph, make sure you explain the following:

1.)  What type of persecution occurred?
2.)  Who was affected and how was this person affected?
3.)  Who persecuted this person and why?
4.)  Why do you think this type of persecution was allowed to happen?
5.)  If you could change what happened, what would you change and why?
6.)  How did it make you feel?  Explain in detail.

*** Remember, these are just guidelines for your paragraph.  Don't forget to provide good support/examples/evidence for your points. ***
*** I fully expect you to write using proper spelling, grammar, capitals, sentence structure, etc. ***

  2. In the book The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas the type of persecution that occured was Slavery because the Nazi`s forced Shmuel and the other Jews to work for them and then they would kill them off, and also Discrimination because they forced the Jews to stay on that side of the fence and be seperated from the Germans. The people who were affected were the Jews and they were affected because they were forced to be seperated from the Germans and killed for no reason exept being Jewish, and the people who persectuted them are the Nazi`s and their leader Hitler. The Nazi persectuted the Jews becasue Hitler disliked the Jews and wanted them dead. This type of persectution was allowed because hitler the dictator choose to kill off the Jews and seperate them from germans. If I could change what happened in the Holocaust I would change it so it didnt even happen. After reading and hearing about the Holocaust it made me really sad, upset, and mad, it made me sad because of what happened and how many people were killed, it made me upset that hitler could even think of doing that, and mad because the Nazi`s were so cruel and mean.

Awesome job granger08! But pajamas is spelled with a a not an y, but that's not really much. Also you don't need not capitalize the s in slavery. And one sentence that I thought didn't make much sense is, " The people who affected were the Jews and they were affected because they were forced to be separated from the Germans and killed for no reason except being Jewish. " The part that didn't make sense was the end, it said " excepts being Jewish. That isn't really a reason of why they were able to kill them. So I would just end the sentence at for no reason.

  3. In this book the type of persucution that occurs is. Slavery, for example the concentration camp they made them do work and they couldn't eat. Its really sad what the nazis were doing to the Jews and hitler hated the Jews so he wanted them killed. What he did isent right. If I could go back to the past I would take out all of the bad things that happend. It would be a much Safer and happier place. After reading this book it made me feel really sad and mad, it's just bad of how many people got killed because they were Jewish. It shouldnt matter if your German or Jewish, the Nazis were really mean to them and they made all the kids get gassed and die, it's just wrong there killing people for no reason.

  4. In the book " The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, " I thought there was 3 types of persecution, slavery, racism, and bullying. The Jewish people were affected because it was just like they left them there to dry! First of all they were starved and were forced to work all day! Also, if someone was weak or not working as well, they were gassed! Again, it was Hitler and the Nazis. Why? well they thought they were a threat to Germany, which doesn't make sense! I think it was allowed to happen because the people of Germany were brainwashed. If I would change a scene in the book, it would be when Bruno kept it a secret having a Jewish prisoner named Shumel as a friend. And possibly the Nazi soldiers would change their opinion of treating the Jewish people so badly! The book made me feel horribly sad. Because all Bruno wanted to do was to help Shumel find his dad, but as a result, they got gassed. :(

    2. Over all great post. One thing I noticed was you said "The Jewish people were affected because it was just like they left them there to dry!" and I think you meant die. Another thing would be you said "the people of Germany were brainwashes" when it wasnt all of them. Most Germans were, not all. Other than those two things great job. :)

  5. I think the form of persecution is slavery because the soldiers forced Shmuel to polish the dishes and the bad thing was was that he didn't have a choice. lieutenant Kotler persecuted Shmuel i think this because lieutenant Kotler thought he had the bigger and stronger army which they do so he told Shmuel to polish those dishes. I think other people allow this to happen because they think that the jewish people steel stuff which isn't true. That made me feel terrible and sad because that shouldn't happen and jewish people should be treated the same as everyone else

  7. (REVISED)

In the novel "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" the type of persecution that occurred was slavery, because of the Nazi soldiers forcing all the Jewish people in the concentration camp, (including Shmuel), to work for them otherwise they would be killed. Shmuel and the other Jewish people had been affected because they were basically being trapped in a the concentration camp with the large fence, separating him and the others from the real world. I think it made them feel like they were different from everyone else. The Nazi soldiers did it because of Adolf Hitler, their leader. When they voted for him he had promised to make peace in the world etc. Although, he had lied and he made people brainwashed into thinking Jewish people were bad because of there beliefs. I think this was allowed to happen because Hitler was the dictator of Germany. I would have kept Hitler in prison for the rest of his life, no ifs, ands, or buts, to get out of jail. I would not make Hitler have power and make Jewish people as his personal slaves because of their beliefs. I wouldn't have made the Holocaust ever happen because it was very upsetting hearing over 11 million Jewish people got killed. Its sad that Hitler was lying and yet he brainwashed everyone to turn against the Jews. It makes me feel worried that this will happen again, and maybe differently yet..similar.

  8. I think you did a good job but I have a few edits you could make. To begin, I think that you should have put the title in quotation marks. Another edit I have for you is, when you said wasn't you spelt it like wasnt. Every time you said Jews or Jewish you did not capitalize the J. Another edit I have for you is, the fact that you put apostrophe after the I and before the S in Nazis, there should not be one. you spelled which like wich a couple times. A couple times you did not capitalize the H in Hitler. You spelt horrible like horible. Good job overall.
